OVERVIEW

Petroleum is a mixture of hydrocarbon molecules and inorganic impurities that can exist in the solid, liquid (oil), or gas phase. Petroleum engineering is concerned with the production of petroleum from subsurface reservoirs. The upstream of the petroleum industry involves itself in the business of oil and gas exploration and production (E & P) activities. While the exploration activities find oil and gas reserves, the production activities deliver oil and gas to the downstream of the industry.
