TRAINING FPSO (FLOATING PRODUCTION AND STORAGE OFFLOADING)

OVERVIEW

FPSO (Floating Production and Storage Offloading) is one of the floating structures installed around the offshore oil and gas fields that functions to receive, process, store and distribute or send oil and gas. Offloading system used in FPSO can use two ways, namely the side-by-side system and the tandem system. Tandem is an offloading system where both objects (FPSO and Tanker) are located in a straight line and face the same direction t, while Side-by-Side is done by positioning both objects in line and both systems are done at a distance condition. The FPSO structure consists of a floating structure in the form of a ship and is permanently tethered to a mooring system configuration, a mooring system, a system used in the FPSO in the form of a spread mooring type and a single point mooring system (SPM) with SPM type turret mooring.

OBJECTIVE

• Understand FPSO Design & Architecture: Gain a thorough overview of FPSO field development concepts, hull design (newbuild vs. tanker conversion), topside module layout, and mooring systems (spread mooring vs. single point/turret mooring).
• Master Topside Processing Operations: Comprehend the technical workflows for offshore oil, gas, and water separation, gas compression, water injection, and produced water treatment under dynamic marine motion.
• Integrate Marine & Process Engineering: Learn how ship stability, ballast management, dynamic motions, and environmental loading (waves, wind, currents) interact with topside process facilities and subsea risers.
• Execute Safe Offloading & Marine Operations: Understand the procedures, equipment, and risk mitigation strategies involved in tandem and side-by-side offloading operations to shuttle tankers.
• Apply Offshore HSE & Integrity Management: Identify critical hazards specific to floating facilities (gas leaks, fire/explosion, structural fatigue, mooring line failure) and apply international safety frameworks (HAZOP, SIL, FMEA, MARPOL, SOLAS).
